Nominations Open for Van Ness Butler Jr. Hospitality Award:

We are excited to announce the opening of nominations for the 2020 Van Ness Butler Jr. Hospitality Award. This award has traditionally gone to a longtime pillar of our community whose contributions through hospitality service, travel/tourism marketing, or other efforts to promote South Walton have helped shape our community and economy in a positive way. The winner will be announced at the VSW Annual Meeting. To learn more about the award, find a list of past winners or nominate an individual for the 2020 award, please click here. The deadline for nominations is Friday, March 27, 2020, and nominations should be sent to Lisa@visitsouthwalton.com. National Travel and Tourism Week, May 3-9, 2020:

VSW is celebrating National Travel and Tourism Week by hosting several events, as well as offering special treats and giveaways to all visitors in the Visitor Center. We will start off the week with our Annual Meeting luncheon on Monday, May 4. Be on the lookout for your invitation! The Tourism Industry Workshops on Tuesday, May 5 will include speakers on digital/social media trends, market analytics and the culture of sales. This educational opportunity is free to our partners and their employees. Each session is limited to the first 75 to RSVP. We are closing National Travel and Tourism Week with the inaugural Sun Wave Social, a community event open to all visitors and residents. It will be held on Saturday, May 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Topsail Hill Preserve State Park. There will be demonstrations, educational exhibits, music, food, children’s activities and giveaways. Beach Flag Magnets:

VSW beach flag magnets are still available in the Visitor Center for pickup. Please contact Lisa Foster to request a number of magnets or stop by the Visitor Center between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The Visitor Center is open seven days a week. Please contact Lisa Foster, industry relations specialist at Lisa@visitsouthwalton.com for more information.
