Tourist Development Tax collection showed a 6.44% increase in South Walton for December 2019 compared with the previous year.

The Tourist Development Tax, or bed tax, is a four percent tax collected on hotels, condos and other short term rentals. It is the best way to gauge visitation and demand trends in South Walton. The revenue supports tourism marketing and beach operations including cleaning and maintaining beaches, lifeguards, destination improvements and preservation initiatives.

Feb. 23: Mardi Gras Parade

The streets in the Village of Baytowne Wharf will be filled with costumed dogs and their humans along with unique and colorful floats, golf carts, and pick up trucks. Mardi Gras music will fill the air as our four-pawed friends and parade participants shower parade-goers with a barrage of beads, moon pies, and other trinkets.

Feb. 25: Mardi Street Party 

Prepare to let your hair down on what many call the most festive day of the year, Fat Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday. "Laissez les bon temps rouler" (let the good times roll) with the Baytowne Mardi Street Pardi. Starting at 6 p.m. join us for a Village Street party complete with music, street performers, entertainers and more. The post-parade celebration continues into the night with parties at various Baytowne establishments. So break out the beads and get ready for a night to remember.

Feb. 28: Taste of the Race

Join Chef Emeril Lagasse live and in person and enjoy cuisine from many of the Gulf Coast’s top chefs and restaurants in the beautiful Seaside Lyceum.

Proceeds from your purchase and participation in our annual Taste of the Race event directly supports our culinary program at the Seaside Neighborhood School! Through this opportunity students will have the opportunity to continue to expand their knowledge about food and healthy habits in our very own Seaside Neighborhood School Culinary Garden.

Feb. 29: Caring & Sharing Fashion Show

Join us February 29 for the 11th Annual Caring & Sharing Fashion Show. The theme this year is Paris in Spring. Caring & Sharing volunteeers will model items found in the organization's thrift store. Enjoy lunch, a fashion show, a boutique featuring items from the thrift store, a silent auction and door prizes. Tickets are $45 and can be purchased at the Caring & Sharing office located at 112 Lynn Drive in Santa Rosa Beach.
